Microsoft valu really given up on gameports starting with Win2K. Note that this joystick has worked with this gameport previously, both under WinXP and Win2k.

There is a “Gameport for Creative” listing under “sound, video, and game controllers. Nobody wants to say it, but you probably need to get a sound card which doesn’t suck. I took out my Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Precision Pro to play some Mech 4 Mercenaries, and the gameport is detected alright, but game controllers panel says that the joystick is not connected, when it is.

Thu Nov 14, You could try manually installing it. The support for them is half-assed. Megavyrus – I’ve had that problem too, but the current creativ is slightly different.
I tried manually installing the “Creative Gameport” device, but it didn’t work. That’s interesting, as I know that I used the joystick under XP before. I am starting to think that my gameport is not functional anymore.
WinXP still doesn’t acknowledge that I have a gameport, even with the “Creative Gameport” device installed.
